• If users require full access to complex features of software applications then it has to be a laptop with full blown applications installed

• Mobility or productivity

• If the user favours mobility features such as ‘instant on’, long battery life, pop-in-and-out-of-the-bag convenience and the ability to work practically on the hoof then it has to be a tablet

• If the user needs productivity features such as comfort for extended use or access to full software applications as a home or remote worker, then a laptop is the better choice

• Browser-based SaaS applications

• If a user accesses SaaS applications using mobile broadband then either a laptop or tablet can work equally well; the best way to split them is to weigh up using the mobility and productivity criteria above
